(Related: Remember when X / Twitter under Elon Musk banned Naomi Wolf following an interview she did with Alex Jones exposing multiple White House coups that were underway this past year?)? Alex Jones confirms that the highest bid for InfoWars at the Federal Auction was not accepted and they chose the lower bid from The Onion instead, likely to make sure he wouldn’t retain control. This shows it’s not about helping the Sandy Hook families, it’s about punishment. pic.twitter.com/ADZx0xfuPR

According to The Onion, the Sandy Hook "families" that won a $1.4 billion defamation lawsuit against Jones sanctioned the bid. It is unknown how much The Onion ended up paying for Infowars and its assets, which include the production studio and supplement business run by Jones. Come January, Infowars will be relaunched as a parody of itself by Ben Collins, CEO of Global Tetrahedron, the parent company of The Onion. "What's next for InfoWars remains a live issue," The Onion wrote in a bizarre post that was supposed to be funny. "The excess funds initially allocated for the purchase will be reinvested into our philanthropic efforts that include business school scholarships for promising cult leaders, a charity that donates elections to at-risk third world dictators, and a new pro bono program pairing orphans with stable factory jobs at no cost to the factories." We will spare you the rest of the post as it is simply too unfunny to stomach, but suffice it to say that leftists really needed this muted victory lap following Donald Trump's reelection to the White House, which they will be reeling over, likely for years. "This was an opportunity for us to give The Onion the facts, the storytelling, the data and the research that's at our fingertips," commented John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety, an anti-Second Amendment group that emerged following Sandy Hook.
