People who support Israel at all costs often claim that Israel is fully justified in using excessive force against the Palestinians in Gaza because of all the hostages still in need of a rescue. One problem with this argument is that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are killing Israeli hostages themselves. An investigation by Hebrew-language news outlet Ynet found that of the six Israeli captives whose deceased bodies were returned to Israel following a recent army operation, five of them were killed by IDF forces inside the tunnels where Hamas was holding them. What apparently happened is that the IDF soldiers attacked the Hamas tunnel for the purpose of retrieving the hostages, only to kill most of them in the process by suffocating them. Only one of the six Israeli hostages retrieved apparently died at the hands of Hamas – Israel killed all the rest. "Apart from him, the main assessment regarding the circumstances of their deaths in captivity of the other five abductees whose bodies were recovered tonight [between Monday and Tuesday] from Khan Younis is that they were killed by suffocation in the tunnel where they were held – as an incidental result of an IDF attack," Ynet confirmed. Israel shoots now and asks questions later

Whenever Israel responds to claims that the IDF is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, the regime of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims that Israel's military almost never kills civilians due to its advanced "precision" technology. Israel also pridefully claims that its military is the "most moral in the world." Tell that to the families of the five out of six hostages whose lives were ended by Israeli troops who were there to "rescue" them. This more than 83 percent hostage kill rate by Israel tells a much different story than the one coming from Israel's political propagandists. We are told that the reason the IDF bombed the tunnel where these hostages were being held captive was because there was a "Hamas target" near the tunnel that had to be destroyed. A fire broke out following the attack that released carbon dioxide into the tunnel, depriving them of oxygen and ultimately asphyxiating them. According to Ynet, the incident occurred around six months ago during "the operation of the 98th Division," and is only just now coming to light following an investigation. "The hostages' captors, Hamas terrorists carrying Kalashnikovs, were also located in the tunnel … lifeless," the Hebrew media outlet claims. On Aug. 20, the same day that Ynet published its report about the hostage killings by the IDF, military spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari issued the following statement: "The circumstances of their deaths are being investigated. When we summarize the findings, we will present them to the families and then to the public. We know that the abductees were killed while our forces were in Khan Younis … we will investigate and give answers." Many of the families of the deceased hostages are speaking out against the Netanyahu regime. One of them accused Netanyahu of "sacrificing" the prisoners as part of his war agenda. After Hamas agreed several months back to a ceasefire agreement, Israel reportedly rejected the agreement. Netanyahu continues to stonewall the peace process by insisting that he will not agree to any ceasefire than involves ending the war, meaning many more people are going to die at his hands in the coming days. Hamas has said it will not agree to a new U.S.-backed "bridging" proposal that allows Netanyahu more leeway to keep the war going indefinitely. Israel, meanwhile, continues to kill its own hostages as reports claim that IDF troops have killed many more than just the five hostages killed in the 98th Division mission.
