"Transparent" DOJ REDACTED every page of Biden ghostwriter's interview transcript
The
Department of Justice (DOJ) under the Biden administration
reportedly redacted every page of an interview transcript involving a ghostwriter for President Joe Biden and federal investigators.
National Pulse Editor-In-Chief Raheem Kassam obtained a copy of the interview transcript where ghostwriter
Mark Zwonitzer was interviewed by federal investigators, but ended up disappointed. During an appearance on "Bannon's War Room," he told host and former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon that there is "a redaction on every single page of the document." These heavy redactions, Kassam added, render the transcript "almost incomprehensible."
"I want to show the camera what we're dealing with here. It's way more than a third that's redacted here," said the
Pulse's editor-in-chief. He called attention to an "average page" from the transcript almost completely blacked out due to the redactions. Kassam estimated that 60 to 65 percent of the transcript was obscured.
The DOJ was ordered to release a transcript of Zwonitzer's interview following a lawsuit filed by the Oversight Project. But the transcript made public appears to be useless given the heavy redactions. The interview informed the Hur Report, penned by Special Counsel Robert Hur, on
Biden's mishandling on classified information.
Despite the redaction and censorship, the transcript revealed key information. The
Pulse found that Zwonitzer had admitted to deleting numerous audio records of interviews with Biden after learning he was being investigated. The ghostwriter confessed to this early last year to the
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

At the time, Hur was investigating whether Biden had mishandled and illegally retained classified documents after leaving the vice presidency It is alleged some of these classified documents were shared with Zwonitzer, who had ghostwritten the president's autobiography, in a breach of national security.
House Judiciary Committee subpoenas Zwonitzer
In a related development, House Judiciary Committee (HJC) Chair Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) issued a subpoena for Zwonitzer. The subpoena comes amid the ghostwriter's failure to disclose relevant documents about his interactions with Biden. The committee has raised concerns over the president's potential sharing of classified information with Zwonitzer.
Jordan requested the ghostwriter to provide the committee with additional documents they believe to be in his possession, explaining that such documents "are necessary to inform such potential legislation."
"Despite Biden's unequivocal contradiction of these material facts, Hur's report contains references to 'audio recordings' and transcripts' of your multiple conversations with Biden 'related to [your] ghostwriting work of [his] memoirs," the Ohio congressman wrote.
"The potential legislative reforms that the [HJC] may consider … include establishing clear statutory guidelines governing the handling, storage and disclosure of classified materials … and modifying criminal penalties for the unauthorized dissemination and disclosure of classified materials."
Per the transcript of Zwonitzer's interview with the FBI, the investigating agents asked him if "the fact that a special counsel had been appointed and [he] had all these recordings was in [his] mind when [he] slid these documents over into the [recycle bin of his laptop]." The ghostwriter initially deflected, but eventually admitted that he "was aware of the special counsel investigation when that happened."
Hur, who was appointed by U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland as special counsel in January 2023, resigned more than a year later on March 11, 2024. He testified before the HJC the following day. The former special counsel weighed charging Zwonitzer with obstruction of justice, but ultimately decided neither he nor Biden should be prosecuted.
