Former Brazilian President Bolsonaro INDICTED for allegedly faking COVID-19 vaccination status, even though the vaccines themselves are fake
Former Brazilian President Bolsonaro
has been indicted for faking his Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination status.
The March 19 indictment was filed by police detective Fabio Alvarez Shor. According to the detective, Mauro Cid – an aide-de-camp to Bolsonaro – confessed that the president asked for erroneous data to put in Brazil's vaccination system for himself and more than a dozen others, including his daughter.
Shor continued that this happened around the time Bolsonaro traveled to the U.S. in December 2022, which required the COVID-19 vaccine as a condition for entry. Cid reportedly delivered the vaccination certificates to his boss personally, the detective added.
Legal analyst Zilan Costa said the 68-year-old Bolsonaro could spend up to 12 years behind bars. "What Bolsonaro will argue in this case is whether he did insert the data or enable others to do it, or not," he explained. "Either you have the evidence or you don't. It is a very serious crime with a very harsh sentence for those convicted."
The
Associated Press (AP
) reported that the office of Brazilian Prosecutor General Paulo Gonet will have "the final say" on whether to use Shor's indictment to file charges against Bolsonaro at the Supreme Federal Court (STF)." Meanwhile, Shor said the recent indictment will be folded into the investigation of the Jan. 8 riot in the capital Brasilia, which is overseen by STF Justice Alexandre de Moraes.
Fabio Wajngarten, attorney for the former president, denounced the "absurd" indictment and said his client did not have access to the vaccination system. Bolsonaro had also earlier denied any wrongdoing when he was questioned in May 2023.
"When he was president, he was completely exempted from showing any kind of certificate on his trips," Wajngarten remarked. "This is political persecution and an attempt to void the enormous political capital that has only grown."
Bolsonaro fought against MEDICAL TYRANNY during his presidency
Bolsonaro was elected in 2018 and began his tenure the following year. The COVID-19 pandemic happened while he was in power, and he made the headlines for pushing back against the period's
medical tyranny in the form of vaccine mandates and lockdowns. Unfortunately, Bolsonaro lost the October 2022 presidential election to his successor Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
"His administration ignored several offers from pharmaceutical company Pfizer to sell Brazil tens of millions of [COVID-19] shots in 2020," the
AP recounted. "He [also] openly criticized a move by Sao Paulo's state governor [at the time] to buy vaccines from Chinese company Sinovac when no other doses were available."
In July 2020,
Bolsonaro himself contracted COVID-19 following months of downplaying its severity. He told reporters at the time that he feels "well" and "normal" despite suffering from symptoms of the disease. (Related:

"You can't just talk about the consequences of the virus that you have to worry about." Bolsonaro said. "Life goes on. Brazil needs to produce. You need to get the economy in gear."
He subsequently recovered and built up natural immunity to the disease. According to tests he has taken, Bolsonaro has a large number of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 – making vaccination unnecessary. He has repeatedly cited this natural immunity as a reason why
he continues to refuse being injected with the COVID-19 vaccine.
"I've decided not to get vaccinated," Bolsonaro said during an October 2021 radio interview. "I'm looking at new studies, I already have the highest immunization. Why would I get vaccinated?"
He has also voiced strong opposition to vaccine passports, which are issued to those who complete their COVID-19 vaccination schedule. Some large cities in Brazil require vaccine passports before Brazilians can visit certain public spaces.
"For me, freedom comes before everything else. If a citizen doesn't want to get vaccinated, that's [their] right and that's the end of it," he said during the same radio interview.
