For podcast host Ben Armstrong, Russia's recent nuclear missile test
serves as a warning to the United States.
"Russia launches nuclear missile test strike on America from a new submarine. That's right – this test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from a new nuclear submarine was no doubt a warning to America. Absolutely no doubt," he said during the Nov. 6 episode of "The Ben Armstrong Show."
"The question is: Does our government think this is just all fun and games? Remember, the Cold War was just fun and games, wasn't it? It's funny they took the Cold War a lot more seriously than they took [Russian President] Vladimir Putin and his threats."
The journalist with the
New American magazine continued: "The people really freaked out about the Cuban Missile Crisis too. But here we have something a thousand times worse. There is now an actual kinetic war in which we're involved."
Armstrong then presented an article from the
Associated Press (AP) about the launch, alongside footage of the ICBM. According to the piece, the Russian military
successfully test-fired the missile – which is designed to carry nuclear warheads – on Nov. 5.
"The report comes as tensions are soaring between Russia and the West over
the fighting in Ukraine," the
AP article noted. It also cited that Putin's recent signing of a bill revoking Moscow's ratification of a global nuclear test ban. Per the article, the Russian government said the move was needed to establish parity with Washington.
The Russian
Ministry of Defense also confirmed the ICBM's launch in a statement. It said that the Emperor Alexander III, one of the new Borei-class nuclear submarines, launched the Bulava nuclear ICBM from an underwater position in Russia's northern White Sea. The missile subsequently hit a target in the far eastern region of Kamchatka.
WWIII has already begun, warns Armstrong
Armstrong stated that World War III has actually started – with Russia already threatening to nuke America and doing it by launching regular missile tests from underneath the water. This, he added, was exactly the way he had been warning how Russia was going to do it. (Related:

"They run a test that fits exactly what I said they're getting prepared to do to us, and they're doing it to intimidate us. It truly is a test for a strike on America. Russia wants America to know that it's a test first strike on America."
According to Armstrong, America would not know the Russian submarines were just out of the ocean and launching missiles not far from the U.S. coast. The country's military radar system might be able to detect the nuclear missiles after they are launched but it would already be too late to stop them before they hit their targets when those missiles travel at Mach 7.
He also pointed out that while Russia has missiles that can travel at speeds between Mach 7 and Mach 9, he believes Moscow doesn't have missiles faster than Mach 9 in its arsenal. Nevertheless, Armstrong said this is a serious cause of concern.
"It doesn't matter if you have anti-missile systems, because your anti-missile system can't shoot something that fast down, not possible. So, there isn't going to be a defense against it. This is who you're dealing with. These are the weapons we are dealing with. We can't stop weapons that our enemies are saying we're going to use on the U.S. if this keeps going."
Moreover, Armstrong said Russia won't be notifying the U.S. if they are doing this kind of test. According to him, Moscow is taking note of how fast America's military command reacts to its first strike.
