The Guardian (UK) throws tantrum following Trump win: "no longer posting on X"

In the days following the 2024 election, legacy media outlets like MSNBC and CNN saw a massive drop-off in viewership, so much so that The Guardian, an establishment media outlet based in the United Kingdom, has decided to boycott X / Twitter. Since Elon Musk and President-elect Donald Trump are now close – Musk is slated to run the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is named after his "memecoin" cryptocurrency – The Guardian sees Musk as someone who should be boycotted. Comcast, the parent company of NBC, is considering selling its "declining cable networks" because the business model is clearly broken. In the age of Trump, everything is now obsolete: a new world order of a much different kind is now on the way. "On X, 'Musk is proclaiming that 'you are the media.' No, you're not," tweeted Puck CEO Dylan Byers (@DylanByers), quoting statements recently made by Jim VandeHei, CEO of Axios, another mainstream media outlet that is losing popularity in the Trump era and now wants to complain about it on social media. "I mean, maybe you're somebody who's popping off on X, but it's different than being a report," Byers continued with the quote. "I could take your temperature ... If you had a would, I could put a bandaid [sic] on it. It doesn't make me a ******* doctor." (Related: Have you checked out our report about the woke bloodbath following Trump's reelection?)

Massive spike in media reports calling "Trump Hitler" after election

A data analysis of media headlines and reporting both before and after Election Day this year shows a massive increase in the number of media headlines and reports referring to Trump as "Hitler" ever since he was reelected. The legacy media apparently made the same mistake it did in 2016 by assuming that Trump stood no chance of making it back into the White House. They were all so certain of themselves that Kamala Harris would grab the baton and lead America into a new era, only to have Trump grasp it once again. As a result, legacy media outlets like CNN now have no choice but to massively trim their employment ranks. Americans are no longer interested in watching CNN or really any other traditional media outlets because of all the lying they have done over the years. As far as The Guardian is concerned, there is simply no further reason to post on X / Twitter because the platform, according to the paper, has been taken over by "far-right conspiracy theories and racism." "We think that the benefits of being on X are now outweighed by the negatives and that resources could be better used promoting our journalism elsewhere," The Guardian told its followers in a statement posted to X / Twitter. "This is something we have been considering for a while given the often disturbing content promoted or found on the platform ... The U.S. presidential election campaign served only to underline what we have considered for a long time that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse." Because of the way media reporting has changed in the new era, The Guardian says it will still "occasionally" embed X / Twitter content into its articles. The paper's reporters will also still be able to "carry on using the site for news-gathering purposes, just as they use other social networks in which we do not officially engage." "Social media can be an important tool for news organisations and help us to reach new audiences but, at this point, X now plays a diminished role in promoting our work."
